About us

Bolton South with Farnworth is a District based in Greater Manchester North County

We have 13 growing groups that are based from Westhoughton, Lostock, Farnworth, Kearsley, Great Lever to Little Lever and Stoneclough. We have 5 growing Explorer Units and a Network for those aged from 18-25 years old.

All groups run a very exciting and re-freshing meetings, including camps, water activities, climbing, survival skills along with confidence and building social skills are just a very small dose of what the leaders put into their planning.

We’re open to everyone and anyone. We put in a huge welcome to any new members including both boys and girls from any background or faith.

A bit about our District Commissioner

My Role:

To manage & support the BSWF District and ensure it runs effectively and that Scouting within the District develops in accordance with the Rule and Policies of The Scout Association so that the District provides good quality Scouting for young people and supports and manages adults in the District.

Scouting Bio:

I joined Scouting at the age of 11 into the 25th Bolton Scouts based in Lostock. There, I began the adventure and fun of Scouting. Later in my life, I returned to the 25th as an Assistant Beaver Leader in 2007. This role was very exciting, with the eager and inquisitive Beavers!

Around 2010, I became involved with the District as the ADC Beavers and ran x2 yearly events.  My first being a sports day.  This will always be memorable, and it was the first eventful event I had run in a large capacity.

Becoming the District Commissioner in 2016 was the biggest honour to serve the District. This role has been hard at times, but it has always been fun and I have met so many people in various faiths, outlooks and plans for the future.

In 2019, I was presented the Award for Merit.

Personal Bio:

Working in the Sports Industry with a well-known sports brand, I get to travel the globe with my role. I’m lucky enough to work in the City Centre of Manchester.

I have three children, two of whom are also within Scouting, in our District. I love seeing what they are developing into and the love of Scouting they are experiencing.

In my spare time, I really enjoy hiking with my partner and having weekends away exploring.
